With the desire to cooperate and develop in-depth research on many new services, GENTIS Company has organized a sharing session with Thai Nguyen International Hospital. The seminar was attended by Mr. Tran Duc Quy - Director of Thai Nguyen International Hospital and about 50 doctors and nurses from the Board of Directors, Deputy Head of Department and doctors working at the Hospital. On the GENTIS side, there were the attendance of Ms. Duong Thi Phuong and Le Thi Hong Nhung - Product Management Department.
At the exchange, reporter Le Thi Hong Nhung had a detailed report on the tests being researched, developed and of great significance in the field of assisted reproductive technology at GENTIS, including:
• Non-invasive prenatal screening test (NIPT)
• Newborn Screening Test (NBS)
• Karyotype test
• Congenital hemolysis test (Thalassaemia)
At the beginning of the seminar, reporter Nhung shared an overview of the non-invasive prenatal screening test. This test helps detect syndromes related to chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus through maternal blood such as Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, Patau syndrome, abnormal number of sex chromosomes X, Y, and micro-loss mutations. /repeat… ensure safety and accuracy over 99%.
The test is done by collecting a mother's blood sample, so it is safe for both mother and fetus. Optimal, fast testing process with results with more than 99% accuracy.
In particular, the non-invasive prenatal screening test eliminates unnecessary amniocentesis, helping to reduce the rate of miscarriage/amniotic infection/infectious disease caused by amniocentesis.
Besides, reporter Nhung also shared details about newborn screening test (NBS) packages at GENTIS. NBS is considered the most effective measure to help detect abnormalities early so that they can take quick and timely measures to avoid disturbances and injuries.
In addition, NBS also increases the survival rate, limits the impact of the disease, and helps prolong the patient's life. Not only that, NBS helps save medical and healthcare costs thanks to early detection.
At the seminar, reporter Nhung also shared with doctors and nurses at Thai Nguyen International Hospital about karyotype testing to help detect abnormalities on chromosomes. Accordingly, loss or extra chromosome segment determined by Karyotype allows predicting a person's genetic disease risk and risk to the next generation; whether chromosomal changes in adults can be passed on to children; determine the cause of miscarriage, infertility; find out what is causing your baby's birth defect or birth defect.
In addition, reporter Nhung also shared a specific section on the test for congenital hemolysis (Thalassaemia). This is a test that helps identify mutations in the α and β - globin genes. Based on the results, your doctor will make a conclusion about whether you have hemolytic disease or carry the Thalassemia gene.
Thalassemia screening test helps in accurate diagnosis and timely treatment of anemia. At the same time, provide prenatal counseling for parents at risk of having a sick child. From there, the doctor will give further instructions in genetic counseling and appropriate treatment.
